The Perfect Recipe For French Toast

The egg and milk based custard that flavors each slice of brioche is scented with vanilla beans, lemon zest and spices. This recipe for French toast will become a top recipe in your kitchen!

The custard batter is made in a blender and when I use my largest skillet I can knock out cooking all 8 slices, 2 for each of us, in only 2 batches!

Can French toast batter be saved? In an airtight container, it will in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

- ground cinnamon - freshly grated nutmeg - granulated sugar - eggs - whole milk - vanilla bean paste or extract - zest of 1 lemon - salted butter, divided - gluten free brioche bread - maple syrup warmed

Combine the first 6 ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a shallow dish or pie plate. Zest a lemon over the batter and whisk to incorporate. Set aside.

Step 1

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. When the butter has almost melted, slightly swirl it around the pan. Dunk one side of a piece of bread into the batter and then flip with tongs. Use the tongs to lift out of the batter, allowing excess to run back in the bowl.

Step 2

Cook the bread on the first side until golden brown 3-4 minutes, flip and cook the second side until golden brown.

Step 3

Wipe out the pan between each batch of French toast to eliminate and burned bits of butter transferring onto the bread from the pan. Then repeat the steps to cook the remaining slices.
