Watch out! I have been Googling anti-inflammatory foods for the past week! Hence this super delish, but also very good for you Golden Milk Turmeric Latte.
Maybe I should give you a bit of background as to why I have gone on a Google bender. My daughter seems to be constantly hurting herself now that its volleyball season and I am doing everything in my power to keep my sanity over here. Currently she has been sidelined from the game with a brace and crutches due to an injury to her ankle. The doctor says to give her over the counter medicine daily to reduce the inflammation, but I feel like that is a very short term solution because who really wants to feed their 14 year old kid Aleve everyday?
So, after a few intense Goggle sessions I decided that along with upping the leafy green vegetables, broccoli, coconut oil and walnuts that Eliza already eats on the regular I needed to up her intake of foods like turmeric and ginger. That's when it hit me, one of my favorite restaurants in LA serves up a Golden Latte made with turmeric that is so good I knew E would go for it. I just had to play around with the ingredients and make sure that what I came up with was tasty enough for her to want to drink it. (That's the key right? They have to want it!)
This Golden Milk Turmeric Latte has not only fresh turmeric and ginger, but it also has Meyer lemon, cinnamon and vanilla which lend an amazing flavor that my girl doesn't mind sipping on! Now if you excuse me, I am off to Google bubble wrap body suits...surely they have those!

If I wanted to buy ground Turmeric and Ginger in the spice isle, how much would I need for this recipe? I really want to try this, but I'm afraid that the Turmeric will go bad, if I don't have the drink every day.

Hi Shauna, no worries I totally get it! I would start with a 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric and a few pinches of ginger and work up from there.I like the flavor of fresh ginger better than ground which is why I suggest starting with such a small amount. Hope this helps!

OMG !!! I'm drinking a warm cup your Golden Tumeric Latte right now !!! It's fabulous !!!
I didn't have the Meyer lemon so I squeezed some regular lemon juice into the mixture and it's awesome. I must tell you though that I have a love-hate relationship with Tumeric. Love the taste and health benefits and beautiful color butI have white counter tops and no matter what I do I always end up scrubbing. Love your blog ! Thank you !!
Xoxoxo

Ahhhh tumeric stain, I know it all too well Donna! I absentmindedly ruined a brand new manicure by not wearing gloves when I was dealing with it once. No one wants to look at yellowed French tip nails. EWWW!! I am so glad you are enjoying the drink though, I hope it is worth the extra elbow grease you will have to use to clean your counter tops 😉

This recipe looks delicious! I will be trying it this weekend, but do you think it will work with almond milk instead? As for the inflammation your daughter is experiencing, have you tried giving her astaxanthin? It's a natural antioxidant that comes from algae and could be a great alternative to giving her Aleve. I've found it's really helped me (I have past knee issues from playing soccer growing up). I take the BioAstin brand - it comes from Hawaii! Just a thought to maybe explore...

Julia, thank you so much for the tip about astaxanthin! I have never heard of it before, but will begin googling as soon as I am finished with this reply. 🙂 The recipe should work with almond milk, hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
