Now that Halloween is behind us we are all turning our thoughts towards the upcoming Thanksgiving feast right? I happen to love a holiday spread that includes compound butters. They really are a special finishing touch for the bread, veggies, and whatever else can be slathered at your table. Did I mention they are easy to make? Normally the dairy free and vegan family and friends have to skip this little highlight of the meal, but not anymore. With a few sticks of vegan butter, fresh herbs and mix-in's your friends and family with dietary restrictions can slather along with everyone else. It's going to be a delicious holiday season!
Step 1: Allow the vegan butter to come to room temperature then combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Choose 1 of the 4 recipes below and combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Stir or whip.
Whether you stir or whip is up to you, I prefer to use a spoon and stir all of the ingredients together, but you can also whip the ingredients together with a hand or stand mixer if you prefer. I just like the least amount of dishes possible.
Step 3: Shape the compound butter.
You can use a mold to make shapes or simply lay a piece of saran wrap or parchment paper on a flat surface. Place the compound butter into the center then grab the bottom portion of the plastic wrap, pull it up over the compound butter and begin forming the wrap around the butter, rolling and forming a log shape.
Twist the ends of the plastic wrap and place butter in the fridge to set.
Store the compound butter in the refrigerator for a few days or freeze until ready to use. To freeze the butter, wrap the log in parchment paper, then plastic wrap, then wrap tightly in aluminum foil. Label the compound butter and place in the freezer for up to two months.

These flavor combos sound so good. I'm thinking I'm going to be the "hostess with the mostess" come Christmas. Thank you!
