    What is Blueberry Lavender Syrup?

Blueberry lavender syrup is a homemade simple syrup infused with the rich sweetness of blueberries and the floral essence of lavender. It’s a versatile ingredient that can be used in cocktails, lemonades, teas, desserts, and even breakfast dishes like pancakes and waffles. The deep purple color makes it as visually stunning as it is delicious.

Expert Tips for Making Lavender Syrup

    • Adjust Sweetness to Taste: If you like a thicker, sweeter syrup, let it simmer a little longer or add extra sugar.
    • Use Culinary Lavender: Not all lavender is created equal. Make sure you’re using culinary-grade lavender to avoid any soapy or overpowering flavors.
    • Fresh or Frozen Blueberries Work: Don’t worry if blueberries aren’t in season—frozen ones work just as well and release their juices beautifully.
    • Strain for a Smooth Texture: If you prefer a clear syrup, strain out all solids using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.

This drink is great as a mocktail, but if you want to make it a cocktail simply add 1 ounce of vodka or coconut rum.

    Ingredients

    Scale

To make the blueberry lavender syrup

    • 4 cups fresh blueberries
    • 1 cup water
    • ½ cup sugar
    • juice of 1 lemon
    • 4-6 1-2 inch sprigs of lavender

    To make a drink

    ice

    ¼ cup blueberry lavender syrup

    1 lime wedge

    sparkling water or club soda

Garnish with lime wheels or blueberries if desired

    Instructions

To make the blueberry lavender syrup

    1. Combine the blueberries, water, and sugar in a heavy bottomed sauce pan. Crush the berries with a potato masher then add the lemon juice and lavender to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the liquid has reduced and the mixture has thickened.
    2. Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the blueberry mixture into the strainer. Gently press on the solids with a spatula to extract all of the syrup then discard the solids. Allow the syrup to cool then store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

    To make a drink

    1. Fill a tall glass with ice.
    2. Add ¼ cup of the blueberry lavender syrup, squeeze in the lime wedge, and fill to the top of the glass with sparkling water. Garnish with lime wheels or blueberries if desired.

I simply love that it is coconut rum that you used for this cocktail. As if there would be another choice? I say no. Perfection!

Me too Angela!!! I love that I can make them without having to use one of those soda stream machines too. Just a little syrup, some club soda, and ice. It doesn't get much better than that!
