Sunday Snapshots: The Art of the Cemetery Part 2

Saint Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans is one of the most intriguing places we have ever visited. Just a short walk from the French Quarter, along a busy city street, sits one of NOLA's most haunting attractions.  The final resting place of Marie Laveau, the infamous Voodoo Queen. We were met with statues, ruins and offerings of all types from lipstick and beads to entire roosters. There was no plaque confirming or denying her crypt but we could only assume that the crypt marked with XXX and laden with a small treasure trove of offerings was hers. According to local lore, if you place an XXX on Laveau's crypt and leave an offering she will grant your wish.

I love this place - I spent hours photographing the last time we were there! Hope your wishes come true!

Thanks Carol! I couldn't bring myself to mark on her tomb, but we did leave a little offering and say a little wish on the wind. Maybe that will work:)
