I’m gonna let you in on a little secret… My favorite part of the 4th of July isn’t the fireworks, the parties, or the cookouts. It’s actually the festive 4th of July desserts!

What is a layered jello cake?
This delicious dessert concoction is what's called a layered jello cake. The name is pretty self-explanatory - a bunch of delicious layers of jello.
When can I add another layer of jello?
As soon as you place the first layer in the refrigerator, start the second layer.
So that you don't pour the hot liquid over the first layer of set jello, this will give it a chance to cool down to room temperature.
Repeat this step with every layer.
Do you cover jello when you put it in the fridge?
Plastic wrap can be used, but isn't necessary. Keep in mind that it can take longer to set up if it's used, especially if the Jello is still warm.

Frequently asked questions about making Jello.
You likely added too much water because the instructions weren't followed thoroughly. Also, Jell-O needs to chill in the refrigerator because it won't set if left out on the counter.
