The Perfect Blend: Fresh Strawberries, Apples, and Vanilla.

To make this recipe, you'll need fresh strawberries, apples, water, and sugar. The star of the show is the strawberries, which add a burst of sweetness and a gorgeous pink color to the applesauce. Apples provide the base and help to thicken the sauce.

When choosing your strawberries and apples, look for ripe, fragrant fruit that is free of blemishes. If organic options aren't available, be sure to wash and rinse your fruit thoroughly to remove any pesticides or residues.

How to Prepare The Perfect Strawberry Applesauce

To prepare the ingredients, start by washing, coring, peeling, and slicing your apples. Next, hull the strawberries and chop them into small pieces. Combine the apples, strawberries, water, and vanilla in an Instant Pot and cook until the fruit is soft and tender. Once the fruit is cooked, use a hand masher, immersion blender, or food processor to blend the mixture to your desired consistency.

Easy and Creative Ways to Customize Your Strawberry Applesauce

While this recipe is delicious as is, there are many ways to change it up and make it your own. Try cinnamon for a warming fall flavor instead of vanilla. You could also swap out the apples for pears or use a mix of berries like raspberries and blackberries.

My strawberry applesauce recipe is an easy and delicious way to upgrade your homemade applesauce game! It's a guilt-free indulgence.

Cook time DOES NOT reflect the 20 minutes or so it takes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure.

    • Author: Meg van der Kruik
    • Prep Time: 15 minutes
    • Cook Time: 15 minutes
    • Total Time: 30 minutes
    • Yield: 8 servings 1x
    • Category: Side dish
    • Method: Instant Pot
    • Cuisine: American

    Ingredients

    Scale

9 mixed apples, cored and peeled, then chopped into similar-sized pieces

1 pound strawberries, tops removed, quartered.

    ¼ cup granulated sugar

    ¼ cup water

    1 tablespoon vanilla extract

a small pinch of coarse kosher salt

    Instructions

In the insert of an Instant Pot, combine the apples, strawberries, sugar, water, vanilla, and salt. Stir to combine.

Lock the lid onto the Instant Pot and set the knob to "sealing". Press the "manual" or "pressure cook" button and the "+" or "-" until the display reads 5 minutes.

When the cook time is over, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then follow the manufacturer's instructions to perform a quick release for the remaining steam.

Remove the lid, stir, or mash with a potato masher for chunky applesauce, or use a blender or immersion blender for silky smooth applesauce.
