Move over avocados, there's a new superfood in town! We're talking about the often misunderstood, yet oh-so-delicious, magic that are California prunes. Dried plums pack a punch of flavor, not to mention a whole host of health benefits. My friends, they are like nature's candy. They're sweet, chewy, and the perfect substitute for sugar, fat, and even eggs in many recipes. Say goodbye to dry and bland baked goods, and hello to moist and delicious treats that won't sabotage your diet!

    What are prunes?

    Prunes are dried plums!

Prunes come from the legendary Petit d’Agen plum that was brought to California from France during the Gold Rush and grafted onto wild American plum stock. After harvest, the prunes are dried in climate-controlled tunnels that balance temperature, humidity, and time.

Why should you use prunes in your recipes?

Think about your favorite recipes. Now, what if I told you that you could make them healthier without sacrificing flavor? This is possible with prunes! You can make reduce refined sugars in your recipes and increase the depth of flavor using diced, chopped, pureed, or whole prunes!

Start your mornings off right with prunes!

Prunes are a healthy way to start your day since they include fiber and antioxidants that lower the chance of developing chronic diseases in addition to vitamins and minerals. Additionally, they have fewer calories than their fresh-off-the-tree competitors and more nutrients including fiber, vitamin B, and vitamin K.
